Parts of Diploma Course, Advanced training seminars, University Hospital
Münster
Contents:
Instruction course part I
February and March (preparation of examination parts of III and IV):
approx. 350 hours lessons (8 school hours daily) in the subjects:
- Legal- and Social Sciences, Economics and Account system (German Meister
Exam part III)
- Specialized Pedagogic (German Meister Exam part IV)
Instruction course part II
April to the middle of January (preparation of German Meister examination parts I and II, BUFA certification, European Diploma) approx. 750 school hours. (weekly 46 - 48 school hours)
Theoretical instruction in the subjects:
- Anatomy, Biology / Physiology, Orthopaedics / Pathology
- Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
- Biomechanics, Technical Orthopaedics, Operating-/ Materials Technology
- Technical Drawing, Anatomical Drawing
- Specialized Calculation, Quality Management, Work Safety
approx. 720 school hours for clinical-practical instructions in the fields of:
- Finishing Technique: All relevant hand- and machine operations
- Measurement and Cast Taking Technology
- Armorthotics / Armprothetics
- Spinal Orthotics
- Lower Limb Orthotics
- Hip- Disarticulation-, Trans Femoral- and Knee- Disarticulation Prosthetics
- Trans Tibial- and Foot Prosthetics
During the first term (April – July) lessons are given in form of frontal instruction, group works and demonstrations, as well as instructions of finishing techniques in practical work. During the second term (August - December) the emphasis is put on clinical-practical applications and the practical adaptation of contents obtained in the theory lessons.
Student participation in the following BUFA advanced training seminars:
- Medical Insoles for pes adductus, pes equino varus etc.
- Wheelchair supply and fabrication of individual seating aids
- Borggreve amputation and prosthetic fitting
- Technical Orthopaedic Management of Spina bifida,
- Prophylaxis of decubitus and its therapy
- Keloid orthoses
- Stoma- and incontinence care
- Theory day of the Nancy Hylton Orthotics Seminar
- Cost calculation
Lectures at the University Hospital Münster
In small groups, BUFA students participate in consulting hours of the Orthopaedic
Outpatient clinic of the University Hospital Münster (incl. demonstrations
of fitted patients). In addition, anatomy lectures are given at the Anatomical
Institute of the University Münster.
