Individual Patient Management of physically handicapped with Rehabilitation
Aids
“Rehabilitation” means the domestic and professional reintegration
after suffering an illness.
It is obvious that temporary or permanent applications can be used. The term
“Rehab-Technology”, however, is not sufficiently defined with
this.
The field Rehab-Technology is particularly concerned with mobility assistance
of all kinds (walking aids, wheelchairs, special bicycles stair assistance,
etc.), home care aids (beds, special mattresses, lifting systems, etc..) as
well as individual seating- and bedding - orthotics.
The attempt to work with the entire commercial supplies and all its nuances
seems neither practicable nor worthwhile to the BUFA. In accordance with the
tradition of our house we see the work with the patient and its preparation
of adequate and safe handling of aids as the central work area. Therefore
we are selecting the following instructional contents within the range Rehabilitation
Technology:
Systematic of the technical orthopaedic management
- Seating and positioning (according to the diagnosis of the patient)
- Planning and fabrication of individual seat- and bedding ortheses
- safe handling of mobility aids (tilting borders etc..)
Contents specified here are accomplished in the form of theory and practice
instructions during the Diploma course. Seminars are carried out for specialized
public participants.
